Francis Boafo Asamoah

Youth for our Planet

Through his activism and perseverance, over 357 species of wildlife (with the exemption of insects) and vascular plants have been conserved at the Atewa Forest Reserve. Also, over 400 indigenous people around the Sui River Forest Reserve have been given alternative livelihoods in beekeeping and snail rearing among others to reduce over-dependence on the immediate forest reserve. Since 2018 He has been with a group of researchers working to understand the ecology, nesting, and movement patterns of the remnant population of Western chimpanzees in Ghana. The about 500 inhabitants around Yireho still have access to potable water.
